Richard Hartman

Non-Executive Director Jumeirah Group, former CEO of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels

An international hospitality expert, Richard has 50 years’ experience in the hotel and restaurant industry. Most recently he was appointed Non-executive Director of the Jumeirah Group.

Having worked his way up through the ranks from a young age, Richard joined Sheraton in 1968 as an assistant manager at the Captain’s Galley Restaurant of the Moana Hotel in Hawaii. He stayed with Sheraton for 30 years, occupying 14 positions on three continents. Richard’s General Management career began with the company in 1983 as the opening GM of the Sheraton Auckland Hotel. He was President of ITT Sheraton North America and served as ITT Sheraton’s first President of Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong.

He spent eight years with IHG where he was a Board Director and also Managing Director of InterContinental Hotels Group, Europe, Middle East and Africa with responsibility for 620 properties. Between 2008 and 2011, Richard was Chief Executive Officer of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels and he has served on a number of boards.
