President's Blog May 2017 - Introducing the "Top 100 Club"

As well as serving our members, IAHGM strives to benefit the hospitality sector as a whole and rewarding outstanding industry talent is an important part of that. With this in mind we are in the process of creating an elite group of the world’s top 100 GMs and we will announce the first names in July 2017.

We are very excited about the project and we believe that the “Top 100 Club” has the potential to be a highly influential initiative, giving GMs a unique opportunity to shape their profession and contribute further to one of the most economically important industries in the world. It will also benefit their individual careers and add value to the reputation of their hotel, and it is an excellent way to celebrate the contributions GMs make to their guests, colleagues, employers, employees and communities each day.

With the assistance of numerous industry sources, including our own Board of Governors (all of whom have had outstanding hotel careers themselves), we are taking nominations of GMs based on the following criteria: reputation, industry profile and influence, innovation, achievements, previous industry recognition, customer and employee feedback and overall business acumen. It is a significant honour and those chosen will be invited to attend an exclusive annual networking event, as well as benefiting from the associated prestige of being recognised globally, as a leader in their field.

This is one of many initiatives we are working on to enhance the profile of General Managers and support them in their careers and we look forward to sharing news of the “Top 100 Club” when the names are announced in the coming months.
