Welcome to the first edition of The Bulletin, a monthly newsletter designed to keep you up to date with all the latest news and developments from within the International Association of Hotel General Managers.
When we launched in February 2016 as the world’s first Association dedicated exclusively to the hotel general management community, our goal was to offer members tangible benefits and a level of independent professional career support they had been missing. Just over a month later, I am incredibly proud of everything we have achieved so far as we continue to build an Association that will add real value for General Managers worldwide. As we strive to develop a truly unique proposition, we are learning along the way and we took the decision to change our name from the Honourable Order of International Hotel General Managers to the International Association of Hotel General Managers, one that resonates more clearly with our global audience.
The initial launch and post launch phases have been a busy time, because of a number of new initiatives we are working on. The design and content development for the Career Management Centre, which enables us to provide real assistance and support to GMs in the realisation of their professional aspirations, will soon be completed and become an integral part of our offering to members. More to come on the other initiatives shortly, however these will, I believe, set the Association apart and help to deliver unrivalled advantages for members.
I want to take this opportunity to offer my sincere thanks to those Founding members who have joined to date; we are fully committed to exceeding your expectations and we welcome your feedback so we can address those things that are most important to you.
