HOIHGm To Be Renamed International Association of Hotel General Managers

The Honourable Order of International Hotel General Managers will now be known as The International Association of Hotel General Managers. Launched in February 2016 as the world’s first global association dedicated exclusively to the international hotel general management community, the organisation aims to provide members with access to a broad range of portable benefit plans, including medical and retirement/pension planning options. A Career Management Centre, as well as an accredited academy for professional development is also in the pipeline.

Whilst there was a fantastic response to the launch at the end of February, coupled with increasing membership numbers, the name change decision has been taken as a result of both member and industry feedback. Founder and President Leon Larkin explains: ‘’this is the first time an independent association with a global mandate has ever existed for hotel GMs, and of course we are learning along the way. Our current name didn’t convey clearly enough who and what we are, to the modern day GM. We have listened and our response has been quick. Our website and email addresses have been changed to www.hotelgms.com in line with our decision.

We have also made a number of additional improvements to the website to improve functionality.’’

Membership is open to all hotel GMs, those who have previously served in the position, owner/operators, as well as retirees and aspiring young professionals on the career path to becoming a GM. The first 5,000 founding members will also receive additional incentives for joining. To find out more visit www.hotelgms.com.
